How To Date During London’s Lockdown

Dating is weird, and especially right now. You’ve got happily single people and serial daters. Then you've got those who have never been on a date, and some who are single for the first time in years.

And all of them are sitting at home, working their way through dating apps.

That’s why we’ve taken tips from experts and real life dating data from Inner Circle app, and put together a guide for dating when you’re just about ready to give up:

Make it easy for yourself

Like with anything in life, you can make it easy for yourself or you can make it hard. Dating is the same, but there are already a ton of tools out there to make it easier. The trick is to use them in a way that doesn’t eat up all your time or make you even more stressed.

Dating apps are exactly like this. You can use the swipe based gamified apps that seem like a time saver, but actually just eat up your work break. Or there are the ones with time limits that somehow manage to make chatting with someone cute surprisingly intense. Inner Circle gets around this by leaving all the control with you. You can pick it up when you want, put it down when you want. And thanks to the verification process that makes sure every profile is a real person, whenever you open the app there’s always a match worth your time.

The low hanging fruit can sometimes be the sweetest

To be fair, this one is just as much down to you. If you’ve been trying to date, you probably have a fair few matches on your phone that you haven’t reached out to.

Message them.

Especially now, as you know they’re definitely not busy.

Even if you’re so beyond done with dating, starting a conversation with someone who’s literally already expressed an interest will take 2 seconds of your time. It could even lead to something good.

Don’t just chat for a couple of days and give up. Do something about it.

A large part of the reason people think they are done with dating, is because they’re not actually going on dates. Sitting on your phone and messaging for 2 weeks is not dating, it’s just having a pen-pal with a good profile picture.

With that said, it’s impossible to ask someone out in London right now. You could literally get fined for it. Instead, see this as a challenge and get creative! Yes it’s true you can’t just meet for a drink, but you can open a bottle of wine and give them a call! Or go one step further and give them a video call.

These aren’t groundbreaking ideas, but the trick is to actually do them. Take a bold step, you got this.

This won’t be forever, so plan for when it’s over.

This may seem never ending, but soon we’ll all be back outside and enjoying the summer. So keep focus by having something to look forward to, and plan a date. The best way to see if you hit it off with someone is to simply spend some time with them. And while you can’t meet now, seeing what activities your potential date suggests is a great insight into the kind of person they are. So ask them what you’ll do when you get to meet, but maybe don’t commit to a specific date in the calendar just yet.

This is a weird time. And while a lot of things are seeming pretty bleak, they can be a lot more manageable when you have someone to share it with, even digitally.

Download the app here, check out what Inner Circle has to offer, and rediscover a literal love of dating.

And don’t forget to wash your hands.
