This May Come As A Shock, But People Might Be Tired Of Dating?
Inner Circle is mainly one thing, a dating app. Yes there’s the “Discover” tab, which shows the best bars and restaurants in cities around the world, and has bonus features like lifestyle tips and a whole section for international travel. But at the end of the day, you join Inner Circle to find someone to share this all with.
And then Covid-19 struck.
Everything changed, so we commissioned Opinium to survey over 1000 singles (1005 to be precise) to see how their dating behaviour had changed during the pandemic.
The conclusion? People are still dating, but differently and for different reasons. And they’re gradually losing enthusiasm…
Our CEO, David Vermeulen, shared his thoughts on how to lift spirits and remain optimistic: “It’s easy to feel like dating is pointless during this period, because ultimately everyone wants to meet in real life and build a future with someone, but it’s important to remember that these strange times will end. And when they do, the majority of singles will wish they had still made an effort.
“It is absolutely possible to make a connection with someone in this time, you just have to put the work in and find fun and interesting things to do. And if you do, you’ll reap the benefits of a much stronger connection when you meet in real life.”
We can’t help but feel this will have a positive lasting impact on dating culture. For now at least, the hookup has died. So when someone reaches out, they’re looking for more.
